Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is the largest health organisation in Wales. It provides a full range of primary, community, mental health, and acute hospital services for a population of around 676,000 people across North Wales, as well as some parts of mid Wales, Cheshire, and Shropshire. It is responsible for the operation of three district general hospitals (Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan, and Wrexham Maelor Hospital). This is in addition to 18 other acute and community hospitals and a network of over 90 health centres, clinics, community health team bases, and mental health units.

Ysbyty Glan Clwyd hospital in Denbighshire, North Wales has undergone a major refurbishment project. As part of this work, Johnson Controls was chosen to work alongside main contractor Laing O’Rourke and electrical contractor Crown House – as well as working directly for the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, to deliver upgrades to the CCTV, access control system, and intruder alarms to ensure the hospital benefits from the highest levels of security.
