Comprehensive Fire Detection Servicing
Maximum safety. Minimised risk.Service Solutions that keep your Fire Detection System fully functional and free from false alarms
Many businesses find themselves without the necessary in-house expertise to manage their fire systems, which are vital to ensuring employee and equipment safety. Performance issues, particularly around service response times, can exacerbate these challenges, leading to increased operational downtime and a consequent drop in customer satisfaction.
Added to this, keeping up with fire safety regulations, such as the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, presents an additional layer of complexity and potential legal risk.
Johnson Controls understands these challenges and can provide solutions that address them directly. With over 1,000 specialised service engineers across the UK, trained in the Fundamentals of Fire Detection & Alarms (Level 3 qualification), our teams ensure that fire systems comply with UK Fire Safety Legislation and British Standards BS5839-1 and work in accordance with BAFE SP203-1.
We provide expert engineering support available 24/7 throughout the year, including advanced digital and remote monitoring, to ensure that your fire safety systems are compliant with regulations and are efficiently maintained. Our support, combined with our products and partnerships, offers a holistic approach to fire safety, ensuring that solutions are tailored to meet your specific needs and operate reliably without the worry of false alarms or system failures.
Ultimately, our goal is to provide you with peace of mind, knowing that your fire safety systems are well-maintained, compliant and ready to function effectively in any emergency.

Typically, a service visit would include:
System testing:
During each service visit, a percentage of all fire detection and alarm system components are checked and tested to ensure all parts are working properly throughout the year.
Battery inspection:
Check backup batteries are in good shape so the system can keep running in an outage.
Fault log review:
Examine the system’s fault log to determine any recurring issues and notify customers of product life expectancy, allowing advance to plan for system upgrades in advance.
Maintenance records:
Verify that the system has been consistently maintained over the year. This typically involves zone plans, as-fitted drawings and system modifications to be carried out with a BAFE modification certificate issued where appropriate.
After the visit, the engineer documents the findings and reports any necessary remedial actions.

Service Case Studies

Vitacress UK
The Challenge
Vitacress' existing fire alarm system at their food production facility was proving unreliable due to poor service performance from the incumbent provider.
Issues around first-time fix rates, engineer travel times and levels expertise from the incumbent had resulted in ‘quick-fixes’ which led to continual breakdown of the fire system.
The Solution
Johnson Controls were recommended to Vitacress and through our servicing expertise were able to take over servicing of Vitacress’ existing fire alarm system meaning first-time fix rates improved.
As the confidence and trust in their new supplier grew, Vitacress asked Johnson Controls to design and deploy a new upgraded fire system.
